An International Conference – ‘GALLIPOLI REVISITED’ – was organised jointly by the United Service Institution of India (USI) and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) from 22 to 23 April 2021. The conference saw participation from a wide range of experts/speakers spanning over 5 time zones around the world. It provided them with an opportunity to recall the events of the Gallipoli Campaign from their national perspectives. These included papers on the military aspects as well as the political/diplomatic legacy of the campaign. Dr S Jaishankar, the Hon’ble External Affairs Minister of India, delivered the Keynote Address, which was followed by brief remarks by the Heads of Mission of Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and the Deputy Head of Mission of the United Kingdom. The Valedictory Address was delivered by the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, General M.M. Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC who paid his respects to those who have sacrificed their lives fighting for our country. A Coffee Table Book is also being prepared for publication as part of the project.
