International MOUs

  • The MOU was signed on 27 Oct 2022 to provide a framework for cooperation in research and promoting the exchange of ideas and views between Indian and Russian researchers and practitioners.

  • The MOU was signed on 10 Oct 2022 for research and discussions on issues of international security, international relations, diplomacy, defence and security, military affairs, conflict studies, disruptive technologies, WMD, UNPKO, Indo-Pacific, European Union, and Maritime heritage.

  • The MOU was signed on 05 May 2022 to provide a framework for cooperation in the fields of research and promoting the exchange of ideas and interaction of views between USI and FO resource faculty and debate from both sides on the areas of international security, international relations, diplomacy, defence and security, military affairs, conflict studies, disruptive technologies, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and UN Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO).

  • The MOU was signed on 17 Dec 2021 to provide a framework for cooperation in the fields of research between Indian and Philippines researchers and deliberate in the fields of international security, international relations, diplomacy, South China Sea, Indo-Pacific, and ASEAN.

  • The MOU was signed on 27 Aug 2020 to cooperate in the furtherance of research of Indian and Taiwanese stakeholders. In addition, the parties will also cooperate in exchanging researchers, academic information, research papers, books, periodicals and reports and introduce research in the fields related to China, regional and global security, economic and social development, frontier studies, and conflict resolution.

  • The MOU was signed on 11 Dec 2018 to facilitate development amongst the leading Indian, Nigerian international research institutions on regional and global security issues of Africa and South Asia. Further, cooperate in the furtherance of capacity building in Net Assessment, Scenario Building and strategic gaming exercise as also the exchange of researchers, academic information, publication of joint research papers, books, periodicals and reports.

  • The MOU was signed on 01 Nov 2018 to provide a framework for cooperation in the fields of international relations, regional and global security, economic and social development, and conflict resolution.

  • The MOU was signed on 01 Nov 2018 to develop and foster research cooperation amongst the leading Indian, and Chinese international research institutions on international, regional and global security, political, economic and social developments as also encourage joint publications and exchange of researchers.

  • The MOU was renewed and signed on 28 Sep 2018 to encourage the development and advancement of joint activities in areas of mutual interest; realisation of mutual scientific exchanges and training; as also support in carrying out research work in political, economic, social and strategic studies of Central Asia.

  • The MOU was signed on 30 Nov 2017 to establish a strategic relationship for coordination and cooperation in academic research in the area of national defence strategic studies, Net Assessment, Scenario Building and strategic gaming exercise.

  • The MOU was signed on 31 Jan 2017 to develop and foster research cooperation on regional and global security, as well as political, economic and social development in Afghanistan.

  • The MOU was signed on 09 Jun 2016 to elaborate and introduce research in the fields related to international relations, regional and global security, economic and social development, human geography, climate change, maritime issues of bay of Bengal, etc.

  • The MOU was signed on 15 Mar 2016 to develop and foster research cooperation in the field of India-Afghanistan relations as also situation in Afghanistan.

  • The MOU was signed on 05 Feb 2016 to further the research between Indian and Kyrgyz stakeholders on issues of Central Asia. In addition, the institutions will encourage exchange of researchers, academic information, research papers, books, periodicals and reports, organising joint seminars, workshops, round tables, conferences activities and joint publications.

  • The MOU was signed on 01 Jun 2015 to provide a framework for cooperation in the fields of research and promoting capacity development for Indian and Swedish researchers and practitioners and introduce research in the areas related to strategic Studies, international relations, regional and global security, crisis management and conflict resolution, WMD, and peacekeeping/peacebuilding.

  • The MOU was signed on 25 July 2013 to elaborate and introduction of modern methods and approaches to training specialists in foreign policy, international relations, international law, security studies, peacebuilding, political sciences and such other fields.

  • The MOU was signed on 06 Nov 2012 to develop cooperation in the field of strategic and military studies, issues of Eurasia, terrorism, conflict resolution, and other such mutually accepted issues based on the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of India.

  • The MOU was signed on 01 Jun 2012 to provide a framework for cooperation in the fields of research and promoting capacity development for Indian and Norwegian researchers and practitioners in the areas of peacekeeping and peacebuilding. In addition, the parties also cooperate in exchanging researchers, academic information, research papers, books, periodicals and reports.

  • The MOU was signed on 04 Oct 2012 to promote exchange of academic research and other institutional cooperation between the two parties that would enhance the development and interests of each party. Further both institutions agreed to hold dialogue every year alternately at Hanoi and New Delhi to discuss India-Vietnam relations and other contemporary issues of Indo-Pacific.

  • The MOU was signed on 10 Aug 2011 to cooperate actively on mutually acceptable areas and interests and promote academic cooperation in the field of security issues, WMD, disruptive technology, Indo-Pacific etc.

  • The MOU was signed on 15 Jun 2011 to conduct research on mutually acceptable areas of geo-politics, regional studies, WMD, UN Peacekeeping, etc

  • The MOU was signed on 26 Nov 2009 to conduct joint research projects on subjects of mutual interest and organise seminars on topics of mutual interest. Both parties would also exchange research findings, publications and other academic information regularly.

National MOUs

  • The MOU was signed on 14 Oct 2022 to conduct research in the field of national security, military modernisation, leadership and any other mutually acceptable topic/subject at the USI. The Bombay Sappers also set up “Lt Gen PS Bhagat, PVSM, VC Chair of Excellence” and proposed the conduct the Lt Gen PS Bhagat Annual Memorial Lecture at the USI premises.

  • The MOU was renewed and signed on 31 May 2022. USI and Amity University will collaborate for various research and project studies on topics of mutual interest and jointly undertake projects on strategic studies of national/international importance. From time to time, USI will conduct an internship programme for the students of Amity University for one month or as decided by both parties.

  • The MOU was signed on 19 Apr 2022 to provide a platform to the designated, developers, manufacturers, and Armed Forces/Security Forces for promoting the ‘Atmanirbhar Initiative’, cross-fertilise ideas, and develop a robust ecosystem for the success in indigenisation and self-reliance in defence technology. BESC will set up a Chair of Excellence at the USI to conduct research on national security.

  • The MOU was signed on 24 Dec 2021 to conduct customised modules on national security for the Foundation Course and IAS Profession Courses. The two parties will work on joint national internal seminars/ webinars at Delhi or Mussoorie and run capsule courses such as the “Art of Long Strategic View” and scenario gaming on geopolitical and strategic security on demand for suitable courses at LBSNAA.

  • The MOU was signed on 10 Dec 2021 to provide a framework for cooperation in the fields of research and promoting exchange of ideas and views between USI and VoW researchers in the field of international security, international relations, diplomacy, defence and security, military affairs, conflict studies, disruptive technologies, WMD and UNPKO.

  • The MOU was signed on 25 Oct 2021 to collaborate for various research and project studies on topics of mutual interest and will jointly undertake projects on strategic studies of national or international importance. USI will conduct an internship programme for the students of Shiv Nadar University for one month or as decided by both parties. Also conduct special capsules on strategic scenario-based gaming exercises.

  • The MOU was signed on 03 Sep 2021 to provide fellowship opportunities to students, and young professionals at MRC and USI engaged in science & technology, geopolitics, maritime security, geo-economics etc.

  • The MOU was signed on 09 Nov 2020 to exchange ideas and conduct ICWA-USI dialogue.in the field of UN Peace keeping, diplomacy, defence and security issues.

  • The MOU was signed on 19 Oct 2020 to produce documentaries involving military history, conflict studies and topics of geopolitics and national security, organising a series of lectures and panel discussions, the digital production of webinar episodes.

  • The MOU was signed on Jul 2020 to undertake mutually agreed collaborative research in cyber and strategic security studies and would be in the form of teaching courses and internships, thematic/promotional conferences, seminars, and round table discussions.

  • The MOU was signed on 15 Jun 2020 to engage in research on socio-political, strategic, economic and relevant contemporary topics. The existing gaps required India's commitments in the region by promoting research, scholarships and other linkages with other countries.

  • The MOU was signed on 11 Jun 2020 to expand understanding of strategic issues, international relations and security matters among ordinary citizens and not just specialists. To share information on contemporary strategic issues through interviews and podcasts.

  • The MOU was signed on 03 Mar 2020 to engage in research on topics of socio-political, strategic, economic and contemporary issues on Central Asia and Eurasia. Further, collaboration of formal governmental engagements as a substantive unit of bridge-building with Eurasia, on issues central to foreign policy planning, national security, diplomatic and economic relations.

  • The MOU was signed on 15 Feb 2020 to create an “Assam Rifles Chair of Excellence” for conducting research in conflict studies, national security, and socio-economic and cultural fields, focusing on the North Eastern region and its neighbourhood, including South East Asia. A joint annual seminar on North East and its neighbourhood coinciding with Annual Assam Rifles Day Events in February as also conduct an Annual Memorial Lecture at USI.

  • The MOU was signed on 15 Jul 2019 to focus on promoting research on non-strategic dimensions of India's maritime interests; to ensure the safety of sea lines of communication (SLOCs) and to maintain peace and stability in the IOR; to promote research and teaching activities on the challenges and opportunities for the coastal states in general and India's maritime security in particular.

  • The MOU was signed on 09 Jan 2018 to foster collaboration for workshops and internships in areas of mutual interest. USI may run courses for the Global Youth students on comprehensive national power in the Indian context; national and international security, strategies and structures; counter-terrorism; traditional and non-traditional security challenges; etc. USI will also offer access to USI seminars/RTDs/Workshops to select students of Global Youth at the USI premises.

  • The MOU was signed on 12 Dec 2017 to foster collaboration and become partners in pursuing excellence in the field of education through organising workshops and internships in mutual interest.

  • The MOU was signed on 28 Oct 2016 to conduct an internship programme for the students of Christ University. Further to conduct round table discussions, seminars, visits to the academic institution and publication of research materials. This also includes working electives/training capsules on national security strategy and structures, counter-terrorism, space, cyber security, nuclear deterrence, maritime issues, net strategic assessment, scenario building and strategic gaming.

  • The MOU was extended on 04 May 2022 to foster collaboration between the USI and ARIDSS in jointly organising seminars. ARIDSS to co-sponsor USI events as a knowledge partner and USI will give ordinary USI membership to their students for access to USI library.

  • The MOU was signed on 03 Jun 2014 to foster collaboration for teaching, workshops and conducting an internship in areas of mutual interest. USI faculty will run courses for JSIA students on a visiting basis on Comprehensive National Power in the Indian context; ‘Art of Long Strategic View: Net Assessment Approach’, National and International Security, Strategies and Structures; etc. USI will also conduct short workshops for JSIA students on formulating scenarios & 'Strategic Gaming'.
