USI- MoD Gallantry Awards Portal Project.

The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, signed a MoU with USI-CMHCS in December 2021 to create a digital repository of gallantry award recipients of the Indian Armed Forces. The broad outline of the collaboration is given below.The USI is responsible for:


(a) Tracing the history of the Indian Armed Forces and creating a broad and inclusive online repository about brave hearts and related wars, battles, and operations in order to inspire future generations to follow the path and emulate the bravery and courage. As part of its objective to preserve history, Indian citizens can deepen meaningful connections with the past. 

 (b) Developing holistic content for the portal with the aim of creating a dynamic, interactive, and participatory online space that would offer a wholesome experience to all users. In a nutshell, transforming the existing website into a one-stop portal to celebrate the valour of theIndian Armed Forces.

 (c) Ensuring optimal reach and impact of the Gallantry Awards Portal to nurture a robust social-cultural eco-system that respects the indomitable spirit and strength of the defence forces personnel and their families. 

Gallantry Awards Portal project is an initiative of Ministry of Defence, Government of India, first launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2017.It is a digital platform to immortalize our soldiers, seamen and airmen who valiantly guard our borders every day to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation and ensure we breathe the air of freedom. The project was conceptualized to ignite a spirit of patriotic fervor among the citizens of the country, using digital technology. Since its inception in 2017, the portal has undergone several transformational changes.
