Indian Army Heritage Trust

The Centre has submitted a proposal to the ADG CW (MoD) to establish a Indian Army Heritage Trust (IMHT) under the aegis of the USI to look after long-term issues of identification, classification, acquisition and conservation of artefacts as well as tangible and intangible elements of India’s vast military heritage. The USI Council can fulfil the function of Board of Trustees. The IMHT is envisaged as the umbrella organisation under which all national military heritage conservation, restoration and preservation activities will function. It will ensure that inputs are provided to inform conservations policy, and develop and execute programmes and projects to help achieve defined goals and objectives for historic research, education and conservation. In short, the IMHT will function as the nodal body for the Army’s Heritage Conservation and related activities.
