The United Service Institution of India was founded in 1870 by a soldier scholar, Colonel (later Major General) Sir Charles MacGregor. The story of its growth is the story of the growth of the Indian Armed Forces. It was founded for ‘furtherance of interest and knowledge in the art, science and literature of the Defence Services.’

UN Peacekeeping Ministerial 2025 2025 scheduled at  Berlin on 13-14 May 2025!

We are proud to share that the United Service Institution of India (USI) www.usiofindia.org has joined the Global Alliance for Peace Operations – a collective endeavour of more than 50 leading think tanks, research institutes and civil society organisations of world focusing on UN and regional approaches to peace operations (https://lnkd.in/eS53YKB9). 🌍

This initiative, coordinated by the Global Governance Institute (GGI) in Brussels, the Berlin Centre for International Peace Operations (ZIF), and Amani Africa, is focused on strengthening UN and regional peace operations at a time when their global relevance is being actively re-evaluated.

At this crucial time when the relevance of the UN and peace operations is under question, the Alliance brings together the expertise, including academicians and practitioners from around the globe, to provide comprehensive policy inputs to the intergovernmental deliberations at UN Peacekeeping Ministerial 2025 2025 scheduled at Berlin on 13-14 May 2025.

As part of the USI Centre for Peace Operations, our team – Maj Gen PK Goswami, Maj Gen (Dr) AK Bardalai, and Col (Dr) KK Sharma – are contributing to two key collaborative topics:
🔹 Protection of Civilians in Peace Operations
🔹 Local Politics and Perspectives in UN Peace Operations

In addition, two thematic papers are being submitted:
- UN Peacekeeping in Ukraine: Is it a Possibility? by Maj Gen (Dr) AK Bardalai (Retd.)

- International Humanitarian Law and Peacekeeping by Maj Gen PK Goswami VSM (Retd.)

We look forward to sharing the published work soon and continuing our commitment to meaningful dialogue and actionable research on global peace operations.
