Brig Arun Sahgal (Retd), Deputy
Director Research, Center for Strategic Studies and
Simulation, United Service Institution of India. He is
the founder Director of the Office of Net Assessment,
Integrated Defense Staff (Ministry of Defense). He is
pioneer in introducing Net Assessment techniques for
politico-military assessments in the strategic milieu
of Indian security planning. He has undertaken pioneering
work in employing techniques such as scenario
building, politico-military gaming for undertaking
strategic assessments by the Indian joint staff.
He is listed as expert in security affairs in ASEAN
Regional Forum Directory of Experts. He continues to
support Indian Joint staff by undertaking consultancy
assignment on futuristic scenario's relating to Indian

Brig Vinod Anand (Retd)
Senior Fellow, is a
veteran of the 1971 war and has seen action as a
Brigade Commander in Srinagar Valley and at Line of
Control. He was also a Deputy Commander in a Rashtriya
Rifles Sector looking after counter insurgency
operations and has operational experience in Siachen.
He is also an army aviator and has served as Colonel
Administration of a Division in the North East. He
retired in 2004 after serving as a Brigade Commander
of Corps Artillery in the Western Sector. He
is handling Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central
Asia at the USI-CS3. He was awarded Research
Fellowship Programme for the period of 2005-2007.His fellowship has been extended till
2009. |

Col Amarjit Singh, Director PP (ORSA),
Addl DG (PP), Army HQ, is a Senior Fellow handling
Analytical Systems for Long Term Defence Planning. He was awarded
Research Fellowship Programme for the period of 2006-2008. |

Col Raj Kumar Rajput, Senior
Fellow, is an artillery officer. He was the Director of USI’s
Centre for UN Peacekeeping. He is handling International
Peace Operations: A Comprehensive Approach. He was awarded
Research Fellowship Programme for the period of 2006-2008.

Col V P Singh, Senior
Fellow, is from the Army HQ. He is handling China: An
Analysis of Economic and Military Power. He was awarded Research
Fellowship Programme for the period of 2006-2008.

Cdr Sunil Chauhan, Research
Fellow, is handling Developing RATS – Resilience,
Adaptability and Transformability – A New Model for Disaster
Management. He has been the Joint Director Naval System (JDNS).
He was awarded Research Fellowship Programme for the period of
2006-2008.

Mr Prashant
Agrawal, Senior Fellow, is an officer of the Indian Foreign Service,
and has served in Paris and in Mauritius since joining
the Service in 1998. He was with the Americas Division
of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi as a
Deputy Secretary prior to joining the USI- CS3. He is
working on issues related to India’s energy security. |

Mr Narendra Kumar Tripathi, Associate
Research Fellow, has a Doctorate from CIPOD/SIS JNU in "The
Global Consumerist Society: Genesis , Limitations and Impact on
World Politics". His research interests include international relations
theory, environmental security and terrorism. He is dealing with
research pertaining to
Environmental
Security/Terrorism.
He was awarded Research Fellowship Programme for the
period of 2005-2007. His fellowship has been extended till 2009. |

Ms Uma Purushothaman,
Associate Research Fellow, is a
research scholar at the American studies division of
the Centre for Canadian, US and Latin American
studies, School of International Studies, JNU. Her
research interests include non-traditional security
issues like human security, food security and
environmental security. She completed her M. Phil
dissertation on ‘US-Turkey Relations and the Iraq War’
in 2003 under the supervision of Professor Christopher
S. Raj. Her topic for PhD is ‘US food aid and
assistance programmes, 1954-2007’. She was awarded
Research Fellowship Programme for the period of
2007-2009 |

Mr Navjot Bir Singh has
submitted his M.Phil dissertation titled “Sino-Indian
Naval Interface in the Indian Ocean: Rivalry,
Cooperation, or Status Quo?” at the Centre for
International Politics, Organization, and Disarmament
in School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru
University. His research interests include
International Relations theory, Maritime Security,
Identity Politics and Peace Studies. He is handling
research on issues related to Indian Ocean and
Maritime Security. He was awarded Research Fellowship
Programme for the period of 2007-2009. |
