1. UNITED NATIONS MILITARY CONTINGENT OFFICERS COURSE (UNMCOC): This course aims to prepare Officers for effective execution of their tasks as part of military contingents and to equip them for training their troops in UN Peacekeeping techniques .A Train-the-Trainers' Programme, the course content includes Introduction to Role, Organisation and Functioning of the UN; Principles, Techniques and Evolving nature of Peacekeeping Operations; Code of Conduct for Peacekeepers; Logistics and Administrative Aspects; and Mission Related Training. Instructors from recent missions may also relate their personal experiences for the benefit of participants.

2. UNITED NATIONS MILITARY OBSERVERS COURSE (UNMOC): This course provides a unique opportunity for future Military Observers to interact with one another prior to deployment and develop strong inter-personal bonds so crucial for a successful mission. The military observers are taught how to observe and report. The course content includes Introduction to Role, Organisation and Functioning of the UN; Composition of UN Military Observer Operations; Code and Conduct of Peacekeepers; Supervision and Reporting; Mission and Mandate analysis; Communication Systems and Procedures; Negotiation and Liaison Techniques; and Mission Related Exercises.

3. UNITED NATIONS STAFF & LOGISTICS OFFICERS COURSE (UNSLOC):
aims to prepare officers earmarked as Staff and Logistics Officers for effective execution of their tasks as part of UN Peacekeeping Missions. A Logistics Officer must be able to function in a cross-cultural environment, be adept in logistics management of the Mission and be able to formulate and execute logistics plans in accordance with the progress of peacekeeping operations. Staff Duties include planning, issue and monitoring of operational instructions / orders; collection and dissemination of information; planning and execution of logistics tasks and maintaining databases of personnel and material resources. The course content includes Introduction to Force Structure and Functioning of Peacekeeping Operations; Mandate and Mission Analysis for Formulation of Logistics Plans; UN Logistics Organisation; Staff Duties in Force and Sector Headquarters; Functioning of an Operations Room; and General Operational and Logistics Orders.

4. National UN Course (NUNC). This course aims to prepare Indian Armed Forces Officers for effective execution of their tasks as part of United Nations Peacekeeping Missions. The course includes Introduction to Role, Organisation and Functioning of the UN, Organisation and Function of DPKO and DFS; Principles, Techniques and Nature of Peacekeeping Operations, Code of Conduct for Peacekeepers, Negotiation and Mediation Techniques, Logistics and Administrative Aspects in Peacekeeping and Mission specific Computer Based and/or Map Exercises.

Course Administrative details

How to Apply: All interested foreign participants should contact the Ministry of External Affairs “(Joint Secretary, UNP Division)”. in India through the Indian Embassy in their respective countries.

Accommodation: All foreign participants will be accommodated at the Residency at the United Service Institution of India (USI) at New Delhi. USI-CUNPK is located 10 kms from the Indira Gandh0i International Airport, New Delhi.

Costs: The training costs for all candidates will be borne by the Centre. For each of the above mentioned courses, for Officers from Troop Contributing Countries (TCC) or emerging TCCs; Government of India also bears the complete cost of to and fro airfare, accommodation, meals and visit to one of the historical places in India (Agra /Jaipur and Delhi) for 15 officers (one from each country) on a first come first served basis. The other officers would be expected to pay for the accommodation and meals at the rate of US $ 85 per day.
