The Fellowship will be for a period of two years,
from 01 July 2008 to 30 June 2010 commencing from 01 July 2008.
Conduct of Research
The terms and conditions of the Fellowship are as follows:-
| (a) |
The Research Project will be completed within
two years. Extension of time will only be accorded in
exceptional cases and on the condition that no additional grants
will be provided. No major changes to the research design will
be made without reference to and concurrence of, the Board of
Management.

| (b) |
The Fellowship will commence from the date of
joining.
|
| (c) |
The candidate will periodically discuss
progress on the Project with a designated member of the Board of
Management, who in turn will apprise the Board at its periodic
meetings.
|
| (d) |
During the course of research project, three
presentations will be made:-
| (i) |
Initial presentation to a select
audience within one month of the start of project on
objective, scope and chapterisation.
|
| (ii) |
Second presentation will be made to a
wider audience after 12 months, on preliminary research
finding.
|
| (iii) |
Third presentation will be made to a
wider audience after 18 months to cover final conclusions
and findings.
|
|
| (e) |
The award of Fellowship will not limit
responsibilities only to the project work assigned by the
Institution. The Air Marshal will be expected to fully
participate and undertake tasks/commitments that USI-CS3 may
assign from time to time during the period of Fellowship. |

Scholarship and Contingency Grants
Honorarium.
| (a) |
A total honorarium of Rs. 72,000/- will be
provided for the project.
|
| (b) |
A sum of Rs 12,000/- will be paid after the
first presentation.
|
| (c) |
A sum of Rs.20,000/- will be paid after the
second presentation and submission of preliminary findings.
|
| (d) |
A sum of Rs.20,000/- will be paid after the
third presentation covering final conclusion and findings.
|
| (e) |
The balance of Rs.20,000/- will be paid on
submission of the completed project report and its acceptance
for publication. |
Contingency Grant. A maximum of Rs.12,000/-
per annum will be made available for incidental expenditure incurred.
The amount will be disbursed every quarter on submission of
expenditure statement upto a maximum of Rs. 3000/- at a time.
Termination of Grants
Should the Board of Management determine that progress on a project is
unsatisfactory, or that the provisions of these Rules are being
violated, it reserves the right to terminate the grant for the
project. In such an eventuality, the research material available at
that point in time will be handed over to the Director USI for use by
another nominee.
Submission of Final Report
The final report will be submitted to the Director USI in triplicate
on completion of the project period, but not later than three months
thereafter. It should be comprehensive enough to be published as a
monograph or a book.
The Board of Management requires inclusion of the following aspects in
the final report:-

Implication for further research.

| (b) |
Implications for policy. |
These should be enunciated clearly and adequately
so that they could be brought to the notice of relevant government
bodies and / or other concerned authorities.
Publication of the Project and Copyright
The USI reserves the right to publish the final report of the project
financed by it. Such reports shall be published by the USI-CS3 within
a year of the acceptance of the report, and the decision to do so will
be communicated to the research scholars within six months of the
receipt of the report. The copyright of all publications relating to
the research project shall vest with the USI. No papers or articles on
the subject of research may be published elsewhere before the final
report is published by the USI
